Stay at home date ideas

Too Tired to Go Out? Try an at Home Date

Whether you don’t have a babysitter, are on budget, or are just plain too tired to go out; it is important to stay connected to your significant other. It is all too easy to fall into the trap of being in the same room but in your own separate worlds. Consider making a commitment to having a date night on a set schedule. Once a week or once a month, whatever works for you. And if you would rather stay home sometimes, try one of the following ideas.*

picnic with fruit,bread,wine and cheese

1. Indoor picnic stay at home date

Picnics can be great for relaxation and romance. Pick up French bread, artisan cheeses, and perhaps a roasted chicken from the supermarket.  Grab some fruit and wine or sparkling grape juice. Then spread a blanket on the living room floor. Leave the TV off and really talk.

2. Gourmet cooking stay at home date

Cooking is definitely more fun when you have a partner. Be adventurous and make something you have never tried before. Or attempt to recreate your favorite restaurant dish. When the meal is  ready,  dine by candlelight just as if you were at the Ritz Carlton.

3. Game night stay at home date

A little spousal rivalry can sometimes be a good thing. It may even create some sparks . Take your choice from card games, board games, or video games.  And take turns choosing to be fair. The loser has to give the winner a back rub!

Couple watching a movie at home

4. Classic movie at home date night

Pick a classic you love or perhaps one you have never seen. Make some popcorn, turn down the lights, and get comfy together.  And no stares or sighs when the makeout session starts. That is, unless your teen comes home early from HER date ( true story).

5. Try a new hobby stay at home date

This is one of my favorites. You are never too old to learn something new. Consider painting, photography, or even a DIY home project. There are tons of free resources on the internet or you can try a subscription to Skillshare or Bluprint and have tons of classes at your disposal.  You may even become hooked!

Bottom line: Relationships are always a work in progress and they may crumble if not tended to properly. It’s not always easy, but more than likely, your efforts will be well worth it. Have a great date night!

XO, Alisa
